Increase Web Traffic - Easy Ways to Use Forum to Drive Traffic

Monday, October 18, 2010

The use of forums started to gain popularity about a decade ago. It was a vast improvement over the older newsgroup community system. A forum is a lot more organized and flexible. It was what you could call the earliest form of interactive website or even the simplest form of social networking online.

The popularity of forums survives even until today and surprisingly, it has not really changed that much at all. The basic concept is still the same - like minded people come together and discuss about whatever topic they want. Some forums have additional features such as allowing users to create a blog within the forum, but at its core, it's still the same as it is 10 years ago.

You can find a forum in almost any type of niche you're in. A quick search on Google will reveal to you some the popular forums of your chosen niche.

Many people make the mistake of joining and forum and start spamming the links to their website all over the place right away. This often results in an immediate ban.
Start by posting useful posts in existing forum threads. Get to know the other members in the forum and interact with them.

You can also start your own discussion or share something interesting with the other members of the forum by starting a new thread.
After you've made some posts, you can start adding links to your signature file. A signature is what you see after a post. Using your signature alone can increase web traffic to your site, but that's not where it ends.

Most forums allow you to create your own profile page. You can write a short bio of yourself and what you do, and then put additional links back to your own site. This is a great way to build high authority backlinks for search engine optimization.
